Updating a charming, older home without compromising its original character is a challenge that our clients, John and Olivia, faced with their 20-year-old Vashon home.

Adorned with stunning cedar paneling, cabinets, trim, wide plank fir flooring, and handmade windows and doors, only the kitchen and laundry/sewing rooms required modernization. Our goal was to blend the new with the old seamlessly.

In the kitchen, we made space for a larger range and improved lighting and ventilation, ensuring everything matched the home's existing aesthetic. We removed and modified cabinets for the new range, installed a custom stainless steel sink after refinishing the wood countertop, and enhanced the space with new lighting, a top-tier ventilation system, and a custom tile backsplash.

Similarly, in the laundry/sewing room, we designed custom cabinetry to accommodate a new sink, stacking washer/dryer, and storage for sewing essentials. Additionally, at the clients' request, we updated their outdated hot water system. The transformation made both rooms more functional while preserving the home's original charm. Our clients were delighted with the outcome, which prompted them to invite us back to remodel their primary bathroom.

Previously, the bathroom was cramped and dark. In response to their desire for a brighter, more modern space, we created a design featuring a spacious shower and tub, heated tile floors, and a large vanity. The renovation involved gutting the entire room, installing new walls and subfloor, and incorporating expert tile work, new lighting, and plumbing to achieve a modern and bright primary bathroom that, despite its different style, enhances the home's original beauty.

John and Olivia are thrilled with their updated home, which now combines modern amenities with its inherent charm, making each room functional and aesthetically pleasing.
